Customer Needs
The new building of the MHK Group's corporate campus in Dreieich, near Frankfurt, was intended to be a symbol of the energy transition from the outset. The MHK Group is one of the leading kitchen, furniture and sanitary purchasing cooperatives in Europe.
The MHK Group wanted to transition from traditional energy sourced and and accelerate its renewable energy production.
The Solution Delivered by Wirsol
Through a successful partnership with Wirsol Roof Solutions, the city has taken substantial steps toward becoming more sustainable:
Photovoltaic Installations: Three rooftop photovoltaic systems spread over four buildings and an area of around 2,700 square meters, the company is focusing on a combination of aesthetics, economic efficiency and ecology.
Energy Efficiency and Savings: MHK has a high annual energy production amounting to 400,000 kWh. The solution developed by Wirsol ensures high economic and self-sufficiency compared to other large energy supply companies. The PV system and the combined existing heat and power plant system have complemented each other excellently.
Environmental Impact: The installed PV systems contribute to a reduction of 241 tons of CO2 emissions per year, helping the MHK Group have a meaningful impact on climate change and promotes a great example for renewable transition.
Fire Protection: The biggest challenge of the project was to ensure that the high fire protection requirements were met by shutting off the fire service whilst still meeting the aesthetic requirements. This required very careful planning and execution by Wirsol Roof Solutions.
